How do I know if I need a new roof?

We recommend a visual inspection of the roof. If there are any signs of curling, blistering, or missing shingles it would be wise to call a roofing professional for a more thorough inspection.

What are the dark streaks on my roof?

The dark streaks are a type of algae that lives off the minerals in some types of roof shingles. Algae thrives in moisture, so it’s seen most often on shaded or north facing roof slopes that don’t get a lot of direct sun.

What are ice dams and how will they affect my roof?

Ice dams occur in cold weather climates when there is heat buildup in the attic space of your home. Ice damming can cause leaks and damage to the sheeting of your roof in addition to the interior drywall if not corrected.  Ice dams occur due to inadequate attic insulation and improper ventilation.

What causes condensation on my windows?

Condensation is actually caused by the moisture content in your home. Many things such as cooking, showers, and humidity settings can cause moisture to build up resulting in condensation forming on your windows.

How do I know if I have enough ventilation?

Ventilation is critical to a well-balanced system in your home. The best way to know if you have enough ventilation is to consult with a local professional who is accredited in this area of construction. Things they should be looking at are intake and exhaust venting in addition to levels of attic insulation.
